Mission Statement
At Hunsberger Elementary we are committed to educating all students to the highest levels of academic achievement, to enable them to reach and expand their potential, and to prepare them to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative and compassionate members of society.
School Hours
Kindergarten - 5th Grade:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:30 AM - 3:30 PM
Wednesday (early release): 9:30 AM - 2:45 PM
Regular Office Hours
8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Everyday school is in session, unless otherwise posted. Summer hours may vary, please call ahead.
Teacher Work Hours
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Lunch
Kinder and 1st Grade: 11:30-12:15 pm
4th and 5th Grade: 12:00-12:45 pm
2nd and 3rd Grade, 3 and 3/4 SWAS: 12:30- 1:15 pm
Recess
Grades K/1/4/5: 1:45-2:00 pm
Grades 2/3/SWAS: 2:15-2:30 pm
Kindergarten Registration for School Year 2025-2026
If your child is five years old on or before August 1, 2025, they can enroll in kindergarten for the upcoming school year. Registration is a two-step process. First, please complete the online registration on the District website, washoeschools.net. You will look for kindergarten registration. Your second step is to bring your zoned school, your child's original birth certificate, vaccination records and proof of residency in the form of a mortgage statement or lease agreement. Please bring your documents to the school office prior to June 6th. After June 6th, please call the school for drop off hours. Please find attached a document regarding school vaccinations.
